" I believe that 'Teamwork makes the dream work' and Millennium Fellowship provides an environment where I can interact with like minded people and solve most of the problems we are facing as a community. The Millennium Fellowship is in line with achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs) which I want to be a part of. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Perioducate Her/Somoye Abiola
It is an initiative dedicated to educating young girls and women about menstrual health, hygiene, and body awareness. The project also gives out sanitary pads and talks about period issues in a way that makes girls feel comfortable, confident, and supported. Its goal is to help girls understand their bodies better and reduce shame or confusion about menstruation.
About the Millennium Fellow
Abiola Somoye is a young, kind lady who is studying electrical and electronics engineering but has always had a passion for volunteering and trying to make the world a better place. She was born in Lagos, Nigeria and is currently studying at Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria. Her family members were always giving to the motherless babies and people who need it when she was younger so she just saw that as a way of life. She tries her best to give back to the community on her own now as she is in a group called Perioducate Her whose main aim is to educate the masses on period health and provide period care resources. She believes we can make the world a better place one step at a time by doing the little things we can.
