" “Empathy, advocacy, and community action fuel my commitment to addressing mental health stigma, drug abuse, and inequality in Kashmir. I believe that meaningful change begins at the community level, and the Millennium Fellowship offers the platform, mentorship, and global network to turn that belief into action. I do this work because I refuse to accept a future where inequality, stigma, and lack of opportunity define the lives of my people.” "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Ihya e Adab

"Ihya e Adab" is an independent project led by Millennium Fellow Saliha Yousuf. Ihya e Adab addresses the distortion and neglect of early Kashmiri literature by working to preserve authentic voices through research, documentation, and community engagement. The project aims to locate and transcribe original manuscripts or oral recitations, compare them with modern versions to highlight distortions, and prepare a small bilingual (Kashmiri–English) booklet for wider accessibility. During the Millennium Fellowship period, Ihya e Adab will document at least 2–3 authentic sources, host one community workshop, and engage at least 50 participants directly through events and booklet distribution. The project also intends to begin building a small digital archive to safeguard collected materials for future reference.
