" As someone connected with the realities at the grassroots, I have seen how local problems grow into larger challenges for society. The Millennium Fellowship excites me because it creates a space to work with others who are not just aware but invested in issues that may appear minor, yet carry the power to reshape society. That is why I believe change must begin at the very foundation of our communities, where these realities are first lived and felt.
For me, Education is central to this change as it shapes how young people think and how they grow-up to take responsibility as citizens. With the support of this fellowship, I hope to strengthen that work and learn from a community of like-minded people who share the same commitment. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Jan Chetna
We, the Fellowship Cohort of the class of 2025, from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University have decided on a common project, "Jan Chetna". Our college is based in a rural area which has a school in the nearby village. Our aim is to execute our project in a three-pronged approach: 1. We aim to create a "Adhikaar Diwar" or a Rights Wall in the School. This wall, will feature numerous well-researched and curated topical pamphlets on areas such as Basic Legal rights, women's hygiene, topics of civic awareness etc. 2. For eight weeks, on thursdays (Jan Chetna Series) the eight members of the cohort will individually share a topic closest to their heart with the students and members of the local community. At the end of each session, we will hold a short feedback round to accurately assess our impact while the project is ongoing and address relevant lacunae, if any in our communication. 3. Later, we aim to conclude using a short quiz on all the topics that we cover during those eight weeks, (Pamphlets of which will be on the "Adhikaar Diwar" wall in English and Hindi). We will then proceed with a short felicitation ceremony for the winners of the quiz.
