" "Climate change is not only an environmental crisis — it is a health crisis. Protecting the planet means protecting the people." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Air Pollution as a Public Health Crisis: Policy Memo
In Ulaanbaatar, over half the population lives in informal ger districts where raw coal is still used for heating. This has led to dangerously high levels of winter air pollution—posing serious health risks, especially for children and the elderly. My project addresses this issue by developing a precise, youth-driven policy memo focused on air pollution and its health impacts.
Drawing on local conversations, academic research, and policy analysis, I developed recommendations to promote cleaner energy, better urban planning, and health equity. This initiative highlights the urgent need for stronger environmental health policies in Mongolia and empowers young people to bring their voices into policy spaces. It aligns with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
