" Millennium Fellowship will help me gain the communication skills and leadership skills needed to advocate for more women in to be included in decision making in the STEM field "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Chronicle of an Engineering Baddie
The project entails educating the masses through my social media accounts on how we STEM, especially engineering is in our daily lives. From interacting with a lot of people, they barely care about how different things they interact with are made let alone how they function, mostly because of the lack of time. Since our screen times have increased, telling a story through the screen and explaining difficult engineering concepts in simple terms on how things that are in our lives are made and function helps increase literacy levels which are falling rapidly.
About the Millennium Fellow
Hope Nyatichi Balewa is a final year mechanical engineering student at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology. Growing up in a 90% female household, she never experienced being told she cannot do something just because she is a woman until she went outside. Working with Dada STEM and helping young girls gain a footing in the STEM field is amazing. I hope to see more female representation in decision making rooms in the STEM field
