" Networking. Collaboration. Spirit. Zeal. Passion.
Just some of the plethora of values the UN Millennium Fellowship vouches for, and that I hope to live up to. I'm super stoked to be a Millennium Fellow because here, I will get the opportunity to hone my skills and create real-world impact. For the issues I have always vehemently advocated for, but at the same time, have been helpless to be able to create real impact. The fellowship opens the doors for me to finally be the change I want to see, by adopting a systematic and multipronged approach, by providing me the necessary training, opportunities for networking and collaboration. My work will revolve around the elderly community by designing an intervention to assist old age homes and their residents, to improve their Quality of life. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Sparsh

Project Sparsh is an Independent Project led by Millennium Fellow Mahika Gupta. The project is set to go live in October and aims to connect with NGOs focused on the elderly community and assist them in their initiatives. Mahika, utilizing her Psychology degree, will design a month-long intervention and implement it in an old-age home to improve the people's quality of life. The activities that will be incorporated in the intervention will revolve around volunteering, listening circles, open mics, mindfulness sessions, exercises, muscle relaxation techniques, etc. Additionally, using research and collaboration, a handbook will be created containing all the components of the intervention, which will further be distributed to old age homes, for them to use as a resource for their residents and beneficiaries. The project will thus help improve elderly people's quality of life, and start a movement of change makers to represent and advocate for the rights of the underrepresented community. The project will impact 150+ people, and will be active from September - December. (Designing of the intervention in September, implementation in October-November, conclusion by December)
