Millennium Fellowship Project: Bridging Dreams

Sometimes, all a student needs is to hear, “You’re not alone.” That simple reassurance can make a world of difference, especially for students who are the first in their family to go to college or come from underrepresented backgrounds. I have watched friends with so much potential hold back from applying for internships or leadership roles—not because they weren’t capable, but because they didn’t know where to begin or who to ask. My project, Bridging Dreams Initiative, is about changing that. It’s a student-led mentoring space where seniors help juniors with things like choosing subjects, finding internships, managing stress, or just figuring out how to make the most of college. We’ll have one-on-one chats, small group sessions, and casual meet-ups—no fancy setups, just honest conversations and shared experiences. The goal is simple: make sure no student feels invisible or stuck. I’m starting this in my own university, where I know the gaps exist. But if it works well, I’d love to see it grow in other places too. Because sometimes, success just starts with someone saying, “I’i've been there and I’i've got your back.”
