" I do the work I do because I strongly believe we designers share the responsibility to voice the marginalized and create sustainable impact. The Millennium Fellowship represents an opportunity to deepen this practice through collective learning and systems thinking. I'm excited to collaborate with fellow change makers who share the same conviction, design tangible interventions, and imagine more inclusive futures. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Vistaar

Remember middle school, Reproduction chapter and all those awkward little smiles being passed around in class? Or the period sensitization session in 5th grade? When they called all the girls into a separate room with no disclosure, I was genuinely scared. Yes, we have all felt the same growing up, “what if school actually prepared us for life instead of exams?” But we relied on googling things in secret and talking about these topics in whispers. So we decided to change that through notebooks! the most widely-used school essential, and turn them into fun and interactive tools for information. VISTAAR, our notebook brand aims to make learning about topics like puberty, emotional well-being, and navigating through the challenges of adult years very seamless and enjoyable for school kids, while also making sure they don't need any added effort or resources to access this information. These notebooks hide little easter eggs of knowledge including stories, comics, colouring pages and paper games about all that important stuff that nobody tells you about!

About the Millennium Fellow

Surbhi Jain is a multidisciplinary design student at Delhi Technological University in India. An artist, researcher and storyteller at heart, she seeks meaning in the mundane and comfort in embracing strange ideas. From designing for the "invisible users" to integrating often silenced themes in mainstream education, her creative practice blends deep empathy and critical thinking, always asking not just "how" but "why" and "for whom." Rooted in hope yet unafraid of difficult questions, Surbhi crafts designs that challenge systems while nurturing possibility. She dreams of futures where creativity, technology, and justice can come together, building a world of peaceful co-existence.
