Dow University of Health Sciences | karachi, Pakistan | Advancing SDG 4, SDG 6 & UNAI 3

" I learnt about the Millennium Fellowship through a classmate who was also enrolled. Initially, I thought it was an incredible opportunity for exposure and practical knowledge, as well as the skills required to work in a group, which would not be like a typical school project. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Health for All: Making Diagnostics Accessible
Our project, Health for All, serves communities in high-risk areas of Karachi. In these areas, thousands of people are at risk of dengue and HPV, many of whom have limited access to healthcare and awareness about preventive measures. In the first part of our work, we conducted two community awareness sessions to educate residents about these diseases and how to prevent them.
In the second part, we focus on providing rapid, low-cost diagnostic solutions for dengue and HPV, enabling timely detection and treatment for vulnerable populations, including children and low-income families.
About the Millennium Fellow
Syeda Zainab Zaidi is a 20-year-old undergraduate student at Dow University of Health Sciences, enrolled in the BS Biotechnology program. She was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan, in a typical middle-class household, being the second generation overall and the first generation of women in her family to pursue education after high school. From a young age, Zainab has received compliments about her confidence from her teachers and peers, but due to a lack of proper guidance, she couldn't really sharpen her skills and developed stage fright. In 2025, when she learnt about the Millennium Fellowship program, she, with the encouragement of her parents and her own will, decided to enroll and work towards making a change, something that would make others' lives easier.
