" Being part of the Millennium Fellowship will be a transformative experience, enhancing my leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills. Learning from young champions from diverse backgrounds will broaden my perspective on global issues and enable me to make a more significant social impact. Through this fellowship, I will gain valuable insights into effective work patterns and collaboration strategies, aligning with the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) principles and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
I expect to benefit from networking opportunities with like-minded individuals, personal growth through challenges and skill development, and a global perspective to develop innovative solutions. This experience will empower me to contribute meaningfully to creating a more sustainable and equitable world. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Voices Unheard

Voices unheard tends to address the issues surrounding people not being able to speak up because of stigmatization. The project aimed at addressing reason why students should speak up whenever there's an issue and to also create enabling environment so others can speak up as well.

About the Millennium Fellow

Obapetu Oluwatoyin Rebecca is a young, vibrant, and globally oriented medical student with a passion for social impact. Born in Kano State, Nigeria, she is currently studying at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria. Her interest in community service began in Primary 5, where she learned about NGOs in social studies. She started volunteering in her 100 level at the university, which further fueled her passion for women's and children's rights.
Rebecca's selfless service has led her to establish her own NGO, Happy Zone Initiative, which reflects her desire to build a better community. Through this initiative, she has carried out projects on mental health in schools, online advocacy programs, and visitations to orphanages. She continues to volunteer with various NGOs (online and on-site) in Ekiti and beyond.
Rebecca's goal is to combine her passion for social impact with her medical profession to contribute to the development of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
