" Menstrual health is more than a hygiene issue it’s about dignity, equality, and opportunity. I do this work to break the silence, challenge stigma, and ensure no girl’s future is limited by something so natural. The Millennium Fellowship excites me because it will connect me with like-minded change makers, equip me with the skills to scale my impact, and help me align my efforts with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, creating a lasting difference in my community and beyond. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Menstrual Health Awareness Initiatives
Project Status: Ongoing
Our project remains ongoing as we continue to build on the foundation established during the Millennium Fellowship. The initiative has evolved into a long-term effort to promote menstrual health awareness, education, and access across Hunza and other regions of Gilgit-Baltistan. We aim to expand our workshops, train local youth ambassadors, and collaborate with schools and community organizations to ensure lasting impact. This project has grown beyond a fellowship goal, it has become a sustained mission to promote dignity, health, and equality for all.
About the Millennium Fellow
Aleeza is a passionate young advocate for menstrual health awareness and women’s empowerment. Born and raised in Pakistan(Gilgit Baltistan), she has dedicated her efforts to breaking cultural taboos, promoting open dialogue, and ensuring access to safe menstrual hygiene for girls and women in her community. Her commitment to this cause stems from a deep belief that menstrual health is a basic human right and essential to gender equality. Through workshops, awareness campaigns, and community outreach, Aleeza continues to inspire positive change, aiming to create a world where menstruation is understood, accepted, and never a barrier to opportunity or dignity. She envisions expanding her initiatives to reach underprivileged areas, empowering young girls with knowledge, confidence, and the resources they need to thrive without limitations.
