" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it offers the opportunity to turn ideas into action, collaborate with change makers from around the world, and create meaningful impact for the communities I care about. I do the work I do because I believe that informed and empowered communities are the foundation of lasting health and sustainable development. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Mind Matters
Mind Matters – Mental Health for Students is a student-led initiative designed to promote emotional wellbeing and normalize mental health conversations on university campuses. The project focuses on creating safe, supportive spaces where students can openly express their feelings, share experiences, and access practical self-help tools. Its key components include weekly mental health circles, awareness activities on important dates such as World Mental Health Day. The project also aims to train student volunteers as peer supporters, strengthening empathy and active-listening networks within the campus community. Even with campus relocation challenges, the initiative contributed to mental health awareness through participation in mental health week events, student engagement, and groundwork planning for future implementation.
