" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it offers a platform to amplify my impact, connect with like-minded change makers, and translate my passion for leadership and service into meaningful contributions for my community and beyond. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Health Literacy for Communities (HeLiC)
My project, Health Literacy for Communities (HeLiC) focuses on promoting awareness of overall wellbeing. It emphasizes on practical actions to maintain good health (physical, mental and most especially basic healthcare practices) while also addressing behaviours that may compromise it.
During the Millennium Fellowship, my health literacy advocacy project achieved significant progress in awareness creation, engagement and behavioural change among fellow students. My initial goal was to reach students with accurate mental health information, reduce stigma and empower them with practical coping strategies. By the end of the fellowship, I successfully organized campus awareness campaigns, interactive sessions and peer support conversations that reached a wider audience than expected.
One of the strongest accomplishments was the active participation we received during our campaign. Students engaged with the discussions, asked questions and openly shared their experiences an outcome that aligned directly with the fellowship’s emphasis on social impact and community building.
