Millennium Fellowship Project: Refoodable Food Bank Initiative

Refoodable is a youth-led initiative dedicated to reducing food waste and promoting sustainability. With the theme “Reimagining Waste, Redefining Worth,” the project challenges the way we view surplus food, turning what is often discarded into a resource that benefits both people and the planet.
The project focuses on two key areas. First, it recovers safe, surplus food from restaurants, markets, events, and households. Volunteers help sort, package, and redistribute this food to individuals and families in need, reducing waste while supporting communities.
Second, Refoodable drives awareness and education. Through community events, school programs, and online campaigns, the project teaches practical ways to minimize food waste and adopt sustainable habits;such as mindful buying, proper storage, and portion management.
By tackling food waste and promoting responsible consumption, Refoodable not only helps those in need but also contributes to environmental sustainability. The initiative aligns with global priorities, including Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), and Climate Action (SDG 13).
