" I am thrilled to be a Millennium Fellow because it amplifies my mission to make quality healthcare a right, not a privileged. My work is driven by a childhood experience where inadequate medical care nearly cost me my life. This fuels my passion to advocate for healthy living and equitable access to healthcare, especially in underserved communities, blending medicine and leadership to create lasting impact. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: MEDUCATE
This project is birthed out of my experience while growing up. My formative years was spent in a rural village, I experienced the devastating consequences of lack of access to basic health information. A burn I suffered as a child worsened due to improper care, but thankfully, my school headmistress intervened and got me the medical attention I needed. This experience made me develop a strong passion for medicine, and now, as a second-year medical student, I plan to pay it forward by impacting other lives through several outreaches and strategic initiatives Meducate is a project that aligns with UN sustainable development goals 3 (SDG 3), good health and well-being. It is aimed at educating rural communities, primary and secondary schools, and marketplaces about essential health and hygiene practices. I believe that knowledge is power, and by empowering people with the right information, we can prevent unnecessary illnesses and deaths. Through Meducate, I hope to create a chain-reaction of positive change in my community, starting with the basics: proper wound care, hygiene, and disease prevention. By sharing my knowledge and experience, I aim to make a difference and create a healthier, more informed community.
