Federal University of Technology Minna | Minna, Nigeria | Advancing SDG 6, SDG 11 & UNAI 3

" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it aligns with my passion for turning advocacy into measurable social impact. Leading as the Student Union Senate President at FUT Minna taught me that sustainable progress requires more than good intentions; it demands structured, visionary leadership and collective action. This global platform will equip me to scale my work with the Sustainable Development Goals from local initiatives to broader developmental solutions. I do this work because I believe the best leaders don't just envision a better future; they build the framework to achieve it. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Global Goals Classroom
The Global Goals Classroom is a youth-led sustainability education initiative executed by the Millennium Fellowship Cohort B, Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMinna) under the Millennium Campus Network (MCN). Co-led by Campus Directors Ayoola Timilehin Israel and Victoria Aliu, the project was designed to raise awareness and deepen understanding of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among secondary school students.
The team visited Model Secondary School, Bosso, Niger State, where they engaged students through interactive teaching, storytelling, and real-life discussions centered on the SDGs. The sessions helped participants connect global goals to their immediate environment and explore how they can contribute through local action.
In alignment with SDG 4 (Quality Education), the project also supported students with learning materials to encourage active participation and academic growth. Through dialogue, games, and Q&A sessions, students developed a clearer understanding of sustainability and their role in achieving the goals before 2030.
The initiative not only equipped students with knowledge but also inspired a sense of responsibility and leadership among them. Its impact was so remarkable that the FUTMinna Millennium Fellowship Cohort B was officially spotlighted by the Millennium Campus Network (MCN) for excellence and innovation in community impact.
The Global Goals Classroom stands as a testament to the power of education, teamwork, and youth-driven change — fostering awareness, building understanding, and inspiring action toward a more sustainable future.
