" Being the only female engineer and first woman of color engineer at L’Oréal has shown me how isolating underrepresentation can be. Through my work building Girls in IE, I want more women in Industrial Engineering to not only have a seat at the table, but also a community that lifts them up. The Millennium Fellowship excites me because it provides the structure and network to turn my vision into a movement that makes mentorship and opportunity the norm, not the exception. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Girls in IE

My project provides free medical screenings, connects people to nearby free clinics, and offers health education to low-income families and the homeless in Atlanta. It helps individuals navigate the healthcare system, find affordable care, and learn how to take better care of their health. By focusing on health literacy and preventive care, we hope to empower underserved communities to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.

About the Millennium Fellow

Priyanka Joseph is an Industrial and Systems Engineering student at Georgia Tech with plans to minor in Computer Science and Engineering & Business. She is currently an Industrial Engineering Co-Op at L’Oréal, where she leads large-scale projects that improve efficiency, operations, and cross-functional collaboration. As the only female engineer and the first woman of color engineer on her team, she has seen how isolating underrepresentation can be. She is now working to build Girls in IE, a student-led organization focused on mentorship, professional pipelines, and community for women in Industrial Engineering.
