UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT SETH KINOSHITA, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2025.
Georgia Institute of Technology | Georgia, United States | Advancing SDG 3, SDG 4 & UNAI 3

" "I am beyond excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it will connect me with a community equally committed in turning their compassion into strong, actionable plans. Being able to tap into a global network with individuals that see these SDGs not simply as goals, but as barriers to be broken, is a possibility I long thought gone. I do this work because, like others, I want to build a sustainable solution in healthcare that will long outlast the individual." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Opioid Overdose Prevention on College Campuses
My ongoing project is aimed at providing equitable access to both training for opioid overdose prevention and Naloxone for use in such situations. While recent policy changes have made Naloxone/Narcan available OTC, college students still struggle to obtain it due to a lack of financial and training resources. As a result, preventable deaths continue to occur despite the existence of a simple, life-saving solution. I currently work with the Georgia Prevention Project as my campus liaison to provide Naloxone training to students and while successful, I know that these trainings have more potential. To improve the trainings, I want to partner with other student organizations on campus and provide a type of certification/service hours to incentivize the campus reach. Additionally, although we sell Naloxone on campus, I want to start an initiative where students can get it for free or at a very reduced cost. This would involve securing grant funding and working with the university administration to subsidize the cost through policy changes. The resources the Fellowship would provide me would be invaluable in scaling these changes up, enabling me to create a sustainable program that promotes the good health and safety of all students on campus.
