" “I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it unites a community of change makers who believe in turning ideas into action. I do this work to bridge the gap between innovation and equity, ensuring that technological progress uplifts the communities that need it most.” "
Millennium Fellowship Project: CiviSight
Civisight is a platform for community involvement that makes it simple for those without internet access to communicate with their local governments. It allows locals to report problems, provide feedback, and stay up to date on concerns in their communities by combining physical mailboxes positioned across neighborhoods with an easy-to-use smartphone and web app. Everyone, especially those in underserved areas, will have a say in community decision-making thanks to this strategy. The platform tackles the issue of outmoded communication techniques, such as town hall meetings, which frequently leave out those without dependable internet connection or those unable to attend. Civisight bridges the digital divide and increases the inclusivity of civic engagement by enabling citizens to submit their concerns through physical mailboxes. For local government representatives, Civisight also offers an interactive dashboard that shows real-time community comments. Leaders are better able to prioritize duties and comprehend community requirements as a result. Civisight also use sophisticated data analytics to pinpoint important problems and offer affordable fixes. Overall, Civisight strengthens communities by making it easier for individuals to express themselves, fostering trust between citizens and local governments. This hybrid communication style encourages meaningful civic participation and fosters a stronger sense of community ownership.
