Millennium Fellowship Project: Tree Plantation
My project is a community-driven tree plantation initiative in my village aimed at restoring the local environment, raising ecological awareness, and promoting sustainable living. The village has been affected by deforestation, soil erosion, and rising temperatures, which threaten both agricultural productivity and public health. Through this project, I plan to plant native trees in key areas such as school grounds, roadsides, and farmland borders. The initiative also includes educational workshops and awareness campaigns to engage youth, farmers, and families in environmental stewardship.
This project directly supports *SDG 13: Climate Action*, *SDG 15: Life on Land*, and *SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities* by enhancing biodiversity, improving air quality, and building climate resilience. It also contributes to *SDG 4: Quality Education* by involving students in hands-on environmental learning.
*Measurable outcomes* include:
- Planting at least *500 trees* over the course of the fellowship.
- Conducting *3 environmental awareness sessions* in local schools.
- Engaging *100+ community members*, including youth and farmers, in plantation and maintenance activities.
- Monitoring tree survival rates and soil quality improvements over a 6-month period.
By combining action with education, this project aims to create lasting environmental impact and inspire a culture of sustainability in the village.
