" I am excited to be a United Nations Millennium Fellow because it aligns with my long term goal of creating a space where everyone is equal and treated fairly. Becoming a Millennium Fellow will enhance my leadership skills and will help me to connect with more like-minded and passionate change makers. By interacting with the peers across the globe, I will get a holistic understanding, which will further help me in my personal growth and development. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Samaanta - We are Equals

So my project focuses mainly on raising the awareness and providing assistance. I want people to get aware about the untouchability still prevailing. I would like children especially to be aware so that an impact can be created since childhood only. My college also has an equal opportunity cell, which focuses on the goals which i have in my mind for the project like making people sensitized, providing them assistance and mentorship for creating equality. In collaboration with the Equal Opportunity cell, we will be having seminars, workshops and awareness campaigns for prevention of untouchability. We will be calling renowned speakers, social workers and law enforcement officials. So that people can get knowledge and also get to know about the legal side of this issue, that it is an offence to practice untouchability and it is punishable. We will also launch a handbook for awareness. We will also be providing them assistance to report the incident if they experience such issues. My goal is also to create a library having literature about Human Rights, Constitution of India, etc. I also wish to offer mentorship to the underprivileged people, who have faced untouchability and couldn't get equal opportunities in various fields.
