Millennium Fellowship Project: In-Sync (Ai powered sign language translator)

Imagine not being able to communicate with most people around you because they do not understand sign language. That's the daily reality for over 466 million deaf and hard-of-hearing people worldwide. Our project, In-Sync, is an AI-powered sign language translator that uses machine learning, NLP, and image and video classification to convert sign language into text or voice, and vice versa. Targeting deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals as well as people who work with them, the project aims to bridge communication gaps. The prototype of the mobile app is complete, and AI model development is ongoing. During the Millennium Fellowship, the project was selected for HackTheAI 2025, and valuable lessons on teamwork and project management were learned.
