" I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it’s an opportunity to challenge myself, learn from a diverse network of change makers, and grow both personally and professionally while contributing to a meaningful project that have real impact in areas I deeply care about. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Money Matters

Ultimately, this program seeks to promote transparency, confidence, and long-term financial wellbeing among students. By giving them access to clear information and practical tools before they begin their studies, the university demonstrates a commitment to student empowerment and responsible financial decision-making. As higher education costs continue to rise, initiatives like this are essential to reducing anxiety, improving retention rates, and fostering a generation of graduates who understand not only their academic disciplines but also the financial frameworks that support their success.

About the Millennium Fellow

Riley Sonter is a Law and Commerce student at Griffith University and a Vice Chancellor's Academic Achievement Scholarship recipient. Her Millennium Fellowship project focuses on youth financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and economic engagement, grounded in the belief that financial knowledge is freedom and an essential skill for being future-prepared. Through her initiative, Riley aims to empower students to navigate the economy with confidence, make informed choices, and develop the skills they need to manage their money effectively throughout their lives.
