" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it offers the opportunity to align my passion for educational and health equity with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. I aspire to grow as a leader while collaborating with civically minded peers from around the world, working together to advance access, equity, and knowledge in ways that create lasting impact. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Budding Branches

Many high school students apply to colleges without really knowing what those schools are like—beyond rankings or what’s said on a tour. On top of that, application fees can be expensive, and students sometimes end up applying to places they might not actually want to attend. Our project helps students get a better idea of what different colleges are truly like by connecting them with current college students for short, one-on-one conversations. These chats are casual and honest—meant to give high schoolers the chance to ask real questions and hear what life at that school is actually like. Whether it’s about academics, student life, or the campus vibe, these conversations give students the information they need to make more confident, informed choices. We want to make sure every student, especially those who are first-generation or low-income, feels supported and empowered throughout the college application process.
