Millennium Fellowship Project: Bridging the Vote

For my service project, Bridging the Vote, I focused on the principles of Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions and Quality Education by designing and leading a civic engagement initiative centered on voter education and participation in Massachusetts for immigrant and minority families along with Harvard undergraduate and graduate students. The project grew out of my involvement with the Harvard Votes Challenge during the 2024 election, where I saw firsthand how gaps in accessible information and guidance can prevent people from fully participating in democratic processes. During my tenure as a volunteer with HVC, I led tablings around campus informing eligible voters on how to register to vote as well as their election dates, created flyers, and hosted workshops and walks for mail-in voting. For this project, I wanted to take inspiration from my previous work and focus on the primary audiences that had the lowest voter participation rates, immigrant families in the Boston area with lower levels of civic and informational literacy as well as students who were first-time or infrequent voters.
Through Bridging the Vote, I organized voter registration tabling on campus and in community spaces, led group walks to support mail-in and early voting, and facilitated educational workshops focused on understanding election dates, voting procedures, and how to identify and engage with elected representatives. A core goal of the project was to translate complex civic information into clear, accessible language so participants could feel confident navigating the system independently. In parallel, I worked with senior research fellows at the Harvard Kennedy School to develop a policy tool (https://ai-policy-framework.lovable.app) designed to help researchers and prospective voters better understand policies being passed in the Senate and House. Together, these efforts aimed to strengthen democratic participation, expand access to civic education, and empower individuals to engage more meaningfully with public institutions.
