Millennium Fellowship Project: Bridge to Wellness
My project focuses on promoting equitable health education and awareness through a project, Bridge to Wellness, within my organization, Wellness Equity Care. I’ll begin by designing comprehensive health education modules that equip individuals with the skills and knowledge to make informed decisions about their health. It’ll emphasize preventative care and include information on nutrition, physical activity, mental health awareness, disease prevention, drug addiction, reproductive health, social determinants of health, and more. However, it’s important that we don’t just create health education modules, but make them accessible. I plan to partner with Cambridge school districts to integrate the modules into curricula and collaborate with city departments to mail them to local residents. I also hope to pilot a storytelling initiative that encourages individuals to share their lived experiences with health inequities. There is profound power in bringing people together to share their stories—creating space for connection, healing, and awareness. This initiative will include both private and public sessions; the private ones will build community and the public ones will be livestreamed to make the realities of health injustice more visible and urgent for action.
