" I do this work because food is more than nourishment: memory, culture, and community. I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it offers a space to grow alongside peers who are also reimagining equity and care in their communities with a true hands-on approach. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Seed to Spoon
Seed to Spoon is a community food literacy project with Dorchester Food Co-Op that teaches kids the science behind what they eat. Through hands-on workshops, participants explore nutrition, cooking, and how foods grow—like learning about apples, their nutrients, and how to turn them into simple recipes. Future plans include seasonal lessons with farm visits, gardening activities, and deeper exploration of agriculture so kids can connect science to the food on their plates. By combining science, cooking, and gardening, Seed to Spoon helps kids build confidence, learn practical skills, and understand where their food comes from.
