ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2025

United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 60,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2025 on 7,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 290+ campuses worldwide (less than 5%) were selected to host the 4,500+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: PACK IT

Pack It is a sustainability project led by the Mellinnuim Fellows class of 2025 on campus to tackle the waste generated during moving. It encourages individuals to reuse materials, reduce package waste and donate unwanted items. From September to November, the project aims to engage +100 people through campaigns and divert measurable amounts of waste from landfills.

About the Millennium Fellow

Mariam Elabd, a young, ambitious, and creative industrial design student, distinguished by her innovative spirit and strong environmental awareness, is passionate about developing interactive solutions that serve both society and the environment. Born in Egypt, she is currently studying at the Faculty of Applied Arts, Helwan University, majoring in Industrial Design. Mariam believes in the power of design to improve quality of life and promote sustainability, a belief reflected in her university projects that combine creativity, innovation, and solving environmental challenges — such as designing interactive products to reduce beach waste and encourage positive behaviors. Throughout her years of study, she has shown strong commitment to research and development, participated in case studies and specialized exhibitions in technology and innovation, and developed several concepts that merge functional beauty with social impact. Mariam aspires to continue her journey in the field of sustainable interactive design, raising environmental awareness through innovations that contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals at both local and global levels.
