Millennium Fellowship Project: MyDokta

MyDokta is a digital health initiative designed to improve self-management and awareness of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) among Tanzanians, especially youth and low-income communities. The project addresses critical gaps in health literacy, delayed help-seeking, and the rising burden of preventable NCD complications. Through a mobile application, Mydokta provides users with clear education, personalized calculators (such as insulin dose and BMI tools), physical activity tracking, and a gamified experience that motivates daily engagement. By consolidating trusted health knowledge and empowering individuals to take informed action before illness progresses, Mydokta supports early prevention and long-term well-being. The initiative aligns with SDG 3 by promoting healthy lifestyles, strengthening community awareness, and enabling people to make proactive decisions about their own health.
