" "I do this work because everyone deserves to be seen—not as an afterthought, but as a priority. The Millennium Fellowship offers the tools to turn my questions into solutions, my care into action, and my theater-stage boldness into real-world impact. Together, we can build stages where everyone gets to perform, and no one sits in the dark." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: The Inclusion Lens
My project will consist of three-part approach, and it will focus on building empathy and raising awareness for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). First, we’ll run powerful on-campus campaigns using social experiments; a blind person asking for direction of a classroom using a piece of paper written on brail, or a speech impaired person asking for something using sign language. The idea is not to embarrass anyone, but rather to spread awareness of the struggle PWDs go through everyday and to spark conversation on the campus. In the second approach, we will organize speaker sessions and will invite leaders like Omar Ahmad (CEO NOWPDP) and Azima Dhanjee (CEO ConnectHear), who can enlighten and educate on their journey and impactful inclusive work. Lastly, we will design and conduct interactive workshops that will enable students to understand the challenges faced by PWDs through stimulating real-life scenarios. The entire goal is to cultivate a deeper understanding of disability and to encourage a more inclusive and supportive campus culture.
About the Millennium Fellow
Ateeb Sher Thebo is a curious young mind driven to challenge himself and the world. Born in Quetta, Pakistan, he thrives on building genuine friendships and fiercely supporting those he cares about. His internship at NOWPDP ignited his passion to advocate for overlooked communities, transforming empathy into action. When not dismantling barriers, Ateeb channels his creativity into archery, theater (both directing and performing), endless cups of tea, and delightfully terrible jokes.
