" I believe real change starts at the community level. Becoming a Millennium Fellow excites me because it’s a chance to turn ideas into impact alongside passionate change makers worldwide. I do this work to give hope where it’s fading and to create solutions that help people — like the flood-affected families in Sindh — rebuild their futures with dignity. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Roshan Ghar

From August to November, I designed, launched, and successfully delivered the first cycle of Virtual Roshan Ghar (VRG) — a project I created to bring essential life-skills education to youth in rural Pakistan. Growing up, I saw how children in my village went to school yet still lacked awareness about their rights, financial basics, personal safety, health, and opportunities. This project was my way of filling that gap.
I set up a TV-based learning space in my village and produced a full series of recorded video lessons with the help of IBA students and volunteer professionals. Together, we created modules on human rights, women’s empowerment, financial literacy, hygiene, self-defense basics, and personal development. Sessions were held weekly and were open to all youth in the community.
The Institute of Social Change supported me in outreach and monitoring, and I also initiated discussions with SRSO to expand VRG into more remote areas using offline USB-based content.
Over the three-month period, the project reached more than 60 young people, giving them a safe, engaging space to learn, ask questions, and build confidence. The impact was visible — participants began discussing their rights, thinking more critically, and showing greater self-awareness.
VRG is now a proven model that I built from the ground up — low-cost, community-driven, and ready to scale
