" Empathy and inclusivity are at the heart of everything I do. Through psychology and design, I strive to create solutions that foster well-being and connection. The Millennium Fellowship offers a unique space to refine these skills alongside passionate change makers. I am excited to deepen my impact, align my work with the UNAI principles and SDGs, and transform ideas into actions that create lasting change in mental health advocacy and inclusive community building. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The MindSpace Project

The Mindspace Project is a student-led mental health initiative designed to promote peer-to-peer support, awareness, and wellness activities within the University of Ibadan community.
Peer-to-Peer Counselling: In collaboration with EPNG, 10 volunteer counsellors will each support 2 students (20 students total) through guided sessions.
Resource Distribution: Students will receive practical materials such as coping guides for anxiety and depression.
Visibility Campaign: Mental health awareness will be promoted through fliers, banners, and digital content featuring everyday mental health tips.
Signature Event: “The MindSpace” A cozy, welcoming space with calming music, books, snacks, fairy lights, and interactive activities including:
Gift Yourself Box: bring an item, take an item.
Peer-to-Peer Sessions: random seating with guided prompts for sharing stories/advice, ending with thank-you notes.
Creative Corner: craft time for DIY stress toys, doodles, and art-based stress relief.
Community Bonding: blankets, mats, and beanbags for relaxation.
The project will be implemented with a backing from the ASIDO Campus Network, where they would speak on mental health.
What makes us different:
Most mental health initiatives on campus tend to focus on formal talks, or strictly professional counselling. While these are important, they often feel too serious, distant, or intimidating for the average student. We want to take a different approach, one that feels relatable, calming, and student-friendly.
Our Goal:
Our goal is to create spaces and experiences where mental health support doesn’t feel like a lecture but like a conversation, a safe corner, or even a cozy hangout. Through peer-to-peer sessions, creative activities, soothing environments, and resource sharing, we hope to make mental well-being approachable and woven into everyday student life. By meeting students where they are, emotionally and socially, we can normalize mental health care in ways that feel natural and comforting.
Our objectives:
1. Provide accessible peer-to-peer counselling for students through trained volunteer counsellors.
2. Equip students with practical coping strategies for managing anxiety, depression, and everyday stress.
3. Increase awareness and visibility of mental health resources on campus through fliers, banners, and curated resources.
4. Foster a supportive and stigma-free environment where students can share, connect, and heal together.
5. Create sustainable mental health initiatives by partnering with organisations like EPNG and the ASIDO Campus Network.
