" I believe access to digital skills is a gateway to opportunity. Through the Millennium Fellowship, I am excited to collaborate with like-minded peers, refine my leadership, and scale my impact in bridging the digital divide. This opportunity will not only strengthen my project but also align my work more closely with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring that students are better equipped for the future. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Digital literacy for youths

The project, Digital Literacy for Youths, focused on empowering University of Ibadan students with practical graphics design skills, primarily targeting first-year students. Over the semester, we organized a training session introducing beginner-friendly design tools, basic layout principles, and practical steps for creating digital content. A few motivated students from 300L and 400L also joined, adding diverse perspectives to the learning experience.
Following the workshop, we maintained an online learning group where participants continued to access tutorials, ask questions, and practice independently. While some planned sessions on web development and soft skills could not be held, the initiative successfully sparked curiosity, built confidence, and provided participants with a foundational digital skillset to explore further learning opportunities.
