" It is said that 99% of success is correct positioning. I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because of the community and other opportunities the Fellowship provides. The Fellowship also provides a platform through which I can solicit for the support I need to carry out my proposed project. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Make Education Accessible Project

My main project was to raise funds to support out of school children and to educate people about the importance of quality education. But, due to having not yet secured funding, I focused mainly on the latter part which is educating people on the quality of education. I and some other people went to a government secondary school to speak to the students about the United Nations SDG goals and I also talked to them about the importance of quality education. I emphasized that they may not have been able to decide the kind of school they wanted to attend but they can decide their attitude towards their academics. When I looked at the school, I saw that it lacked a lot of equipment that normally should be found in secondary schools. However, I encouraged the students that they could still do well regardless. I told them about someone named Ekene Ezeunala Franklin who had the highest UTME score in 2019 and also had 9 As in WASSCE but attended in public school. This was what my project focused on and I still have other plans I hope to implement and so my project is ongoing.
