Millennium Fellowship Project: Uzhavu
Shaastra is the annual technical fest of IITM. Every year , they host a social campaign that aims to bring a change in society. As a coordinator , i proposed the idea for a campaign based around using technology in order to make agriculture sustainable. Agriculture is the oldest professions in the world and employ over 50% of population in India. . Lack of technology causes a loss of crores in this area. Apart from the monetary loss for the farmer , it also affects the ecological balance of the place. Firstly , we tried to manufacture pollinator pods through the workshops of IITM. We are planning to distribute this across fruit farms in Tamil Nadu. The pollinator pods not only increase the produce of a farm but also help restore ecological balance by providing shelter to bees. We organised a hackathon , along with the NAF, in order to connect students with industry experts and come out with working prototype for real world agricultural problems. We also conduct soil testing in farms , ns association with startups. We are also backed by TNCCM. On 29-12-24 we conducted a fundraiser marathon in the streets of Chennai as part of Uzhavu.
About the Millennium Fellow
As a dynamic student leader, I bring experience from managing partnerships for Shaastra, one of Asia’s largest student-run tech fests, where I honed skills in negotiation, outreach, and stakeholder engagement. My internship at FedEx sharpened my problem-solving and operational efficiency abilities, blending corporate insight with a commitment to sustainable, community driven solutions. As an active member of my university’s AI Club, I explore ethical and impactful uses of artificial intelligence to address social challenges. Through the UN Millennium Fellowship, I aim to expand my impact, connect with change makers, and implement projects that create lasting, equitable change at the intersection of technology and society.
