" “Empowering children through education has always been my greatest passion. As a Millennium Fellow, I am thrilled to join a global community dedicated to advancing meaningful change. This opportunity allows me to strengthen my leadership, collaborate with inspiring individuals, and align my work with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. I am motivated by the belief that every child deserves a chance to learn and thrive, and I look forward to making a lasting impact on the lives of rural youth while growing both personally and professionally through this fellowship experience.” "

Millennium Fellowship Project: BetterLife

BetterLife: Enabling Schools to Prevent Drug Abuse in Alignment with UN Health Objectives BetterLife is a student organization dedicated to advocating the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 3 – Good Health and Wellbeing. It was created in response to the increasing but frequently neglected problem of underage school students using substances, especially among disadvantaged communities. Through awareness, education, and community involvement, BetterLife strives to provide healthy, well-informed environments where students can make better choices. The past year has seen the team organizing outreach programs in various schools, engaging hundreds of students in engaging and interactive sessions. These sessions covered topics such as peer pressure, addiction, and mental health, and invited free-ranging conversations and honest introspection. The project also created tailored resource kits for parents and teachers to facilitate ongoing learning and prevention post-event. What distinguishes BetterLife is not only its short term effect, but its scalable, long-term strategy. By hearing from students, teachers, and community leaders, the team adapted their solutions to address actual, on-the-ground needs. Their model is simple to replicate by schools in the future. BetterLife is evidence that empathetic leadership and grassroots efforts can create lasting change—beginning in classrooms and extending into communities for lasting impact
