Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Resilient Horizons

Project Resilient Horizons is a youth-led initiative to strengthen disaster preparedness and response in Bangladesh, focusing on flood- and cyclone-prone regions like Satkhira and Kurigram. The project aims to build a real-time volunteer network by:
1. Creating a database of 100+ local volunteers.
2. Training 100 university students on disaster preparedness and crisis management.
3. Establishing a WhatsApp coordination community for 50+ volunteers.
4. Conducting field visits to foster trust and understand local needs.
5. Mapping 30 local resource suppliers for emergency goods and services.
6. Promoting sustainable recovery methods, such as salt-resistant agriculture and alternative livelihoods.
Currently at the idea stage, the project plans to launch by August 2025 and operate through November 2025 during the Millennium Fellowship, aiming to impact 5,001–10,000 lives. It aligns with SDG 17 (Partnerships) and UNAI Principle 2 (Capacity Building). The founder brings prior experience in disaster relief and climate initiatives, motivated by inefficiencies observed during the 2024 Bangladesh floods. By December 2025, Project Resilient Horizons envisions a connected, proactive disaster response system that can serve as a scalable model for other vulnerable regions.
