UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT SILVIA FERNANDA CHAMORRO, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2025.
Pontificia Universidad Javeriana | Bogotá, Colombia | Advancing SDG 16, SDG 17 & UNAI 8

" I think that by enforcing values as solidarity, human dignity, and the common good, which are tangled to the heart of the Project Tejiendo Paz, I could impact the lives of my community and by them to much more. I wish to give people like me the knowledge needed to make their rights heard and respected, and the tools to fight for them when they are not. To do so, I look forward to pursuing a program like the Millennium Fellowship that will empower those silenced to use their own voice, experience and identity as a utensil rather than a obstacle. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Tejiendo Paz
Tejiendo Paz (Spanish for "Weaving Peace") is an innovative campus-based program which I am Co-founder of. Its objective is to promote peace, justice, and strong institutions within the Javeriana community by weaving together the diverse perspectives and partnerships of its members. This project will create safe and inclusive spaces for students and local youth to learn about conflict resolution, discuss justice and human rights issues, and collaborate on solutions that strengthen our community. The initiative is designed to be engaging and accessible. With interactive workshops, open dialogues, and creative problem-solving sessions where law students demystify legal rights, anthropology students highlight cultural understanding, philosophy students guide ethical reflections, and international relations students connect local challenges to global goals. Through these activities, participants will build practical skills like mediation and advocacy, as well as foster mutual respect and work together on mini-projects that address real issues on campus, like reducing discrimination or improving student representation in institutions. By the end of the Fellowship period, this project will have planted the seeds of a student-led movement for peace and justice at Javeriana, demonstrating that young people, through partnering across disciplines, can strengthen the fabric of their community one thread at a time.
