" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with like minded change makers and amplify solutions that matter. My work is inspired by the urgent need to strengthen healthcare systems, especially in maternal and child health. I focus on research and innovations in diagnostics and communication because I believe every life saved is a step toward equity. Being part of this fellowship fuels my drive to transform ideas into action and create lasting impact for communities in Kenya and beyond. "

The Student and Community Health Camp was a multidisciplinary outreach initiative that aimed to promote preventive healthcare and improve health awareness among students and the surrounding community. The camp brought together trained volunteers, medical students, and healthcare professionals to provide free, accessible screening and counseling services.
During the camp, participants received a wide range of health services, including urinary tract infection (UTI) screening, sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing, optical assessments, and basic dental checks. The program also offered breast and cervical cancer screening for early detection and referral, as well as routine measurements such as blood pressure and random blood sugar levels. In addition, HIV testing and counseling were provided confidentially, ensuring that individuals received supportive guidance and linkage to care where necessary.
The project emphasized preventive health, health education, and early intervention. Through its integrated approach, the camp strengthened community engagement, enhanced health-seeking behavior, and empowered participants with knowledge about their personal health status. Overall, the initiative successfully increased access to essential health services and contributed to improved wellbeing within both the student population and the wider community.
