Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology | Juja, Kenya | Advancing SDG 15, SDG 1 & UNAI 1

" Organizational skills and strategic planning drive my passion for leadership and service. Being part of the Millennium Fellowship will empower me to channel these skills into creating a meaningful impact within my school and community. This opportunity will also enable me to design and implement my first-ever project, something I have been eagerly looking forward to, aligning my efforts with the SDGs and fostering sustainable change "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Vaxiliv Kenya
My project is basically trying to fix the problem of animal suffering from epidemic and vaccine-preventable diseases in the north eastern parts of Kenya as well as the whole country. We shall develop an application that will work as a scheduler and tracker for all animals. The app will work to develop vaccination schedules of all species of animals currently kept by the local area and send alerts to herders/ farmers when the vaccination of animals is due. To further increase the area of reach, the application will be directly localized to Somali for easier access for the pastoral communities that may have problems with English and other formal languages. The app will as well include several different videos and interactive clips which will try and teach the herders on how to handle animals with different clinical manifestations as well as the contact of different veterinarians in the area. An offline mode for the application will also be developed to counter areas with little to no network connection.
