Saving Ourselves is a breast cancer awareness initiative aimed at educating women on early detection, self-examination, and breaking the stigma around breast health. The project seeks to build a supportive community where awareness spreads naturally.
Its primary audience is women with limited access to accurate health information, while also engaging young women, students, and men.
During the fellowship, the initiative held its first awareness session for women in a university hall. While participation varied, the session highlighted both challenges such as reluctance among some women and successes, including active engagement and peer encouragement. This experience provided valuable insights and prepared the project for expansion to rural communities, aligning with its long-term goal of broader education and outreach.
