Millennium Fellowship Project: SheRIse: empowering the voice

SheRise: Empowering the Voices is a women's empowerment initiative aimed at raising awareness of women's legal rights, challenging gender stereotypes, and giving confidence to young women and community members in Bangladesh. It creates safe, inclusive spaces where women learn, speak, and share experiences and gather knowledge to advocate for themselves and others.
The focus of this project is on enhancing women's awareness of their rights to education, equality in the workplace, safety, and dignity. Equipping participants with basic legal knowledge, through interactive workshops and discussions led by youth, provides practical tools for recognizing discrimination, seeking assistance, and becoming more engaged in community life.
Throughout the Millennium Fellowship, multiple awareness sessions have been conducted at both the university and community levels, with a direct engagement of over 100 participants. These sessions featured such topics as gender equality, the legal protection of women, harassment laws, the importance of financial independence, and positive male engagement. The project also encourages young men to join in the conversations towards shared responsibility in achieving gender equality.
Aligned to SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), the project works for long-term social change, empowering women through knowledge and dialogue. It also focuses on leadership development, empathy, and community collaboration.
Empowering Voices is designed to continue beyond the Fellowship through partnerships with youth groups, universities, and local organizations. The long-term objective is the development of a network that can persistently imbue the culture of legal literacy and gender sensitivity, enabling women to become confident, aware, and contributing participants in society.
