Millennium Fellowship Project: Legal Awareness for All
Legal Justice for Everyone (LJFE) is a project to help people—especially women, low-income families, and minorities,to know their
fundamental legal rights and the country's laws. Legal problems most people face are just because they don't know much about the law. I once witnessed a terrifying incident in my neighborhood in which a man was arrested by police under false charges. The police officers had no valid documents, but the family was unable to do anything to stop the arrest. Fearing and being powerless to assist, they even tried to bribe the police. It was only with the intervention of a local lawyer that the man was released. This would have been done in a very different way if the family were aware of their rights and how to act legally. That's the nub of the matter this project is trying to solve. With "LJFE" we attempt to make legal concepts simple and easy to comprehend for all. We will use simple content, workshops, and learning videos to raise awareness. The objective is to empower people with the knowledge to look after themselves and act sensibly when faced with legal conflicts and better stand up for themselves and their societies
