" I've seen how access to the right knowledge and resources can completely transform a girl’s life. Through community engagement, I have seen how small acts of awareness can spark lasting change. The Millennium Fellowship offers me a chance to grow these efforts, collaborate with others who share the same vision, and build solutions that bring us closer to a more equitable and sustainable world. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: InvestSmart BD

InvestSmart BD is an independent project led by Millennium Fellow Shreya Halder. InvestSmart BD addresses youth financial literacy and consumer protection for Bangladeshi students through 10-minute app lessons and a no-risk investing simulator covering Dhaka Stock Exchange basics, government T-bills/bonds and National Savings Certificates, gold, emergency-fund habits, and bKash/Nagad anti-scam safety. The project aims to engage students and faculty at my home campus and one partner campus through weekly in-app learning, small group clinics, and mentorship with a focus on first-generation and women students. During the Millennium Fellowship period (August–December 2025), InvestSmart BD will run two campus cohorts and six in-app modules; host at least three open anti-scam/investing clinics; enroll ~400 students; help ≥250 students complete a BDT 3,000 emergency-fund challenge; and achieve a ≥25% average gain on a pre/post literacy quiz with ≥60% simulator completion. We aim to reach about 400 people combined across activities.
