Millennium Fellowship Project: Shahr-e-Āb (City of Water)
Shahr-e-Āb (City of Water) – Water and Life an independent, student-led initiative dedicated to addressing the interconnected challenges of clean water access, climate change, and marine conservation. Rooted in the belief that sustainable water management and climate action are critical to community well-being, the project will engage students, local communities, and environmental stakeholders in awareness campaigns, hands-on conservation drives, and policy dialogue. My aim is to inspire
behavioral change, promote eco-friendly practices, and foster local solutions to Safeguard freshwater sources and marine ecosystems for future generations.
About the Millennium Fellow
Shakir Hussain Koul is senior law student at the University of Kashmir, India. Born and raised in Kashmir, he is passionate about advancing constitutional law, human rights, and social justice. His work focuses on using legal education as a tool for community empowerment and policy reform. Through the Millennium Fellowship, Shakir aims to develop impactful projects addressing equality, access to justice, and civic engagement, contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Shakir aspires to advance his studies in law, aiming to contribute meaningfully to legal reforms and the promotion of justice at both national and global levels.
