Kenyatta University | Nairobi, Kenya | Advancing SDG 4, SDG 5, SDG 10 & UNAI 3

" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because I believe in the power of young people to transform their communities. My passion lies in promoting mental health awareness and creating spaces where youth feel seen, supported, and empowered. I do this work because I know firsthand the impact of mentorship and belief just as others have believed in me, I want to be the person who uplifts, inspires, and helps others realize their potential. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: The THRIVE Project: Mental Health and Wellness
The Thrive Project is a campus-based initiative dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and community wellness among university students, especially those facing academic stress, mental health challenges, and limited access to resources. Through education, engagement, and support programs, it empowers students to prioritize well-being, reduce stigma, and build supportive networks.
During the Millennium Fellowship, the project created tangible impact by hosting events, including a mental health session at Awjama Cultural Centre in Eastleigh, Kenya, engaging over 50 students in open discussions on wellness and coping strategies.
Building on this work, I co-founded the **MindRise Foundation** with other Fellows, now a community of 100+ members that empowers youth through mental health education, skills development, and leadership opportunities. This experience strengthened my leadership, community mobilization, and created a platform for ongoing impact, with plans to expand events and safe spaces further.
