United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 60,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2025 on 7,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 290+ campuses worldwide (less than 5%) were selected to host the 4,500+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Clean and Green Project

The Clean and Green Project is an initiative designed to deal with with the pressing issue of environmental degradation by focusing on waste management, community clean-ups, and sustainable education. My goal is to create a cleaner, greener and healthier public spaces while bringing a sense of environmental responsibility among community members. The key activities include: 1)Organizing regular clean-up drives in public spaces. 2)Setting up public dustbins and promoting recycling of waste. 3)Conducting awareness campaigns on sustainable practices The aim of this project is to reduce pollution, improve public health and inspire communities to take ownership of their environment. My Vision is to create a ripple effect where small, consistent actions lead to a significant lasting change in how people interact with their surroundings.

About the Millennium Fellow

Michelle Ndinda Maelo is an Environmental Management and Planning student with a keen interest in sustainability, climate action, and community development. She is passionate about environmental conservation and has engaged in projects focusing on waste management, renewable energy awareness, and policy review. With growing skills in environmental impact assessment and strategic planning, she aspires to contribute to innovative solutions that balance development and ecological protection. Through the Millennium Fellowship, she seeks to strengthen her leadership, collaborate with peers, and drive meaningful change within her community.
