Millennium Fellowship Project: Socio-economic Impacts of Waste Management in Kibera Slum
This project focuses on human well-being by addressing waste management and its socio-economic impacts in Kibera Slum. It transforms waste into income, empowers the community, and creates waste markets to generate economic opportunities. By engaging residents and fostering collaboration, the project brings the community together to achieve its goals, promote sustainability, and improve both livelihoods and the local environment.
About the Millennium Fellow
Okore Stephine Awange is a passionate, young man who is always on the look for what's new about the environment. He was born in Kenya, Nairobi city, went through his primary education in Nairobi, where after went to study secondary education in Migori County and later was enrolled in Kenyatta University where he studied Bachelor's degree in Environmental studies and community development, now awaiting for his graduation coming this December. His final project report he reflects on the waste management practices and their socio-economic impacts on Kibera Slum. This was to see through and come up with ways to combat waste management and effects it brings to the people as looking at the opportunity it can also bring to the people.
