" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it offers a powerful platform to amplify my passion for youth empowerment, climate action, and technology-driven solutions. I believe that with the right mentorship, resources, and collaboration, young people can exceed expectations and create lasting impact in their communities. This Fellowship allows me to expand my projects, connect with like-minded change makers, and contribute meaningfully to the Sustainable Development Goals—transforming ideas into action that uplifts both people and the planet "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Eco-Healthy Region Project
The Eco-Healthy Region Project is all about making our community a cleaner and healthier place to live. We want to teach people how the environment affects our health—for example, how pollution or dirty water can lead to sickness. We'll organize clean-up events, plant trees, and hold small workshops to talk about hygiene, waste management, and climate change. The goal is to help people live healthier lives while also protecting nature around us.
About the Millennium Fellow
My name is Mbarushimana Jean Damascene, a dedicated youth mentor, climate advocate, and aspiring global leader from Rwanda. I am currently a student at Kepler University, pursuing studies that integrate leadership, technology, and social impact. Over the past several years, I have served as a Youth Ready mentor with World Vision, a YWCA mentor with USAID, and a volunteer with Arcos, where I contributed to environmental conservation initiatives.
My passion lies in empowering young people with skills, confidence, and opportunities to shape their future. Through my mentorship work, I have helped youth in my community develop leadership abilities, enhance employability skills, and engage in community development projects. I am also committed to climate action, holding certifications in climate change skills, and applying this knowledge to advocate for sustainable environmental practices.
Alongside my leadership roles, I am pursuing the tech track in Salesforce Customer Resource Management Systems, building skills in coding, video editing, and digital literacy. My vision is to merge technology, mentorship, and environmental stewardship to drive positive change at both community and global levels.
