" I am very excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it will help me gain and master skills in leadership, project management, and community engagement. These skills will allow me to better train and support families and youth in my community, helping them build sustainable businesses and improve their livelihoods. By learning how to design impactful programs and collaborate with other young leaders, I can make my work more effective and reach more people with the resources and guidance they need to overcome poverty. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Eco Bricks for a Circular Economy
Our project Eco Bricks Rwanda is a project which was born from a simple idea of turning textile waste into opportunity. What we do is to collect discarded fashion and fabrics and transform them into eco-bricks for wall decoration and soundproofing, as well as sofas and art pieces. We're just starting a looking for support for our project. Beyond making products, we also run campaigns, workshops, and meetups, teaching youth how to take action and care for the environment. We started this Kamonyi district and Muhanga district. So every brick we create and every workshop we hold is a step toward cleaner air, less water pollution, and stronger communities. So far, we’i've started collecting textiles from Nyarugenge Market, manually shredding fabrics, and making eco-bricks, and we dream of scaling up with better tools and natural binding materials to reach more people.
